Thieves of Tomorrow (c) 2009 Larry Sizemore
A little fifties-like tubes and tremelo with bluesy lead. The lyrics are introspective and based in the ubiquitous carpe diem theme. There is a little junk in the beginning and a whole lot at the end—I left it as a garage band embellishment.
many eyes on a dream so far away
being pushed back downstream or lead astray
by the prophets of time, the thieves of the day
and it’s gone
one day you wake up and it’s gone
and empty they carry on
while the masses get by, wait for the end
they turn a blind eye
as the children contend
with the prophets of time, the thieves of tomorrow
one day you wake up and it’s gone
desires still on the dream so far way
still being pushed back downstream, still lead astray
by the prophets of time, the thieves of today
it’s gone , yeah it’s gone
The Migration (c) 2008 Larry Sizemore
Epic Instrumental—-in over my pseudo-engineer head, but I do like the textures and repeated themes, even though the recording could be so much better. Since the song is long, I really had to compress the file to 96kbps to meet the 8mb limit, so the sound is a little dull and squirrely in places.
Lies and Alibis (c) 2009 Larry Sizemore
Inspired by an acquaintance who received a thrill from deception.
in passing, in brief no particular intention
but to keep disbelief in perpetual suspension
an element of surprise, a diversion, a distraction
becomes a chain of lies and alibis
lies, lies, and alibis
impossible to undo this growing hostility
unable to think it through every possibility
never planning all these cries and heartbreak and pain
from a chain of lies and alibis
lies, lies, and alibis
Outside Woman Blues Arthur “Blind Willie” Reynolds
Recorded by Clapton in ‘67, I just wanted an excuse to play a slide guitar solo. Not a big fan of the song and I shuffled it up a bit to get the Statesboro feeling going. If Blind Willie’s publishers call, I guess I’ll have to change the words too, which wouldn’t be a bad idea, since they are no longer “appropriate” ☻!
Crashing Burning (c) 2009 Larry Sizemore
Latest effort (a work in progress)—Inspired by frequently denied human tendencies
tossing and turning i wake up burning
i wish you were here
the waiting is so hard, catches me off guard
how much i need you near
the moments that we spend together are too few
when we’re apart i’m only missing you
i’m overpowered and now i must concede
connections between us are now a need
you launch me to a place
where i feel part of the human race
a view so clear i never want to come down
you open a window to my mind
tangled thoughts start to unwind
then your gone and i’m crashing burning to the ground
you are addiction, you’re the affiction
that fills all my time
at once enabled and disabled,
the bond is so sublime
time becomes frozen on the path that we have chosen
when you are away
as you are leaving euphoria deceiving
the coming disarray
Blue Rain (c) 2008 Larry Sizemore
Long Saxy instrumental concluding with rough around the edges blues.
Afterglo (c) 2009 Larry Sizemore
Latin fantasy evening
the time is right the coast is clear
come on let’s get out of here
i’ve grown weary of these noisy bars
come dance with me beneath the stars
let’s go, let’s go
dance with me in the afterglo
let’s go, let’s go
into the afterglo
rhythm of the crickets the firefly light
two shadows swaying in the tropical night
moving to a rhythm only we can hear
come on let’s slip on out of here
Cupcake
70s Funk—derived from average music with my own twist—although I stop short of calling it a cover.
Line Between (c)2009 Larry Sizemore
Dichotomy of life’s dark clouds and silver linings
you’re my tempest
you’re my peace
you’re my tension
and my release
all the color comes from the rain
there’s a fine line between pleasure and pain
you’re my tempest
you’re my peace
you’re my tension
and my release
you’re my courage
you’re my fear
and the line between
pleasure and pain
isn’t quite so clear
push pull
fix break
empty full
give take
laugh cry
crazy sane
truth lie
pleasure pain
